The track can be found here. He’s got a bunch of his (presumably) favorite anime in the track lyrics, and says the word “anime” 30+ times.

Peter Fernandez’ Last Interview

Peter Fernandez (January 29, 1927 – July 15, 2010) was an actor and voice actor most known for his role in Speed Racer. Despite a career extending from the 1930s, he is probably best known for his roles in the 1967 anime. Fernandez co-wrote the scripts, was the voice director, and composed the theme song. He was instrumental in introducing many Japanese anime series to English speaking audiences.

Fernandez’ last interview was with Vidgle at Otakon 2008, in the segment copied below:

In light of all the hype from E3 this week, we want to confirm that we are working on a number of new LeetStreet Boys songs. Don’t want to promise a release date or give out too many details yet, but we’re working very hard and really excited!

We had a discussion at some point about whether the girls in the audience should look like actual otaku girls, or like models. In the end, we opted for real rather than Hollywood.

For those who have not yet seen, here is the original animatic demo from preproduction. We cut the Playstation throw scene because it seemed a littla anarchic and anti-Sony. We cut Midna because we felt the triforce was more iconic, matching the line “tri-to-force you.”

We finally did it…

There aren’t a lot of artists who can say that a million people have seen their music video. This wonderful milestone is reason to celebrate and we’d like to extend gratitude to people / organizations who have helped us get here:

Adam Ferarro — For being the first person who believed in this project enough to show thousands of people with the world premiere at Anime Boston. Got us started with a bang.

4chan, Joystiq, Japanator and VGcats — For introducing us to huge new audiences through prominently featuring our video. Thanks for the traffic spikes.

Tommy Tallarico — For featuring the song in Video Games Live and showcasing it all around the world. Your endorsement helped recognize the song as artistic and professionally valuable.

NHK — For discovering us and putting us and our Boston fans on Japanese national television. (Does this also make us the first band to Rickroll Japan?)

Colby — For your help with the subtitles — the “icing on the cake,” so to speak. Rock on, my friend.

Nate — Remember all those late winter nights planning and animating? It feels like it’s been an eternity since then. What a ride it’s been. Congratulations!

Our fans — For being amazing, passionate and supportive. We had no idea that there were a million otaku out there who love music, anime, video games, romance and anime conventions as much as we do. We hope to perform and meet all of you soon.
