LSB recording studio featured in Performer Magazine

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

We’re proud that Jack Ludden, director of Pinewood Productions recording studio was featured in Performer Magazine. Jack was phenomenal to work with recording vocals for the album, and we would recommend him to any recording artist. He brings a ton of music and recording knowledge to the table, and the sessions were a lot of fun. We hope to work with Jack on another recording project in the future.

Congrats on being recognized by Performer Magazine, Jack! Thanks for plugging LeetStreet Boys and our Billboard Top 10 appearance with Video Games Live in the article!

Masquerade sing-along at Anime Boston

Friday, May 15th, 2009

I’m delighted to announce that at Anime Boston this year, our song “Masquerade” will be the sing-along song leading into the Anime Boston 2009 cosplay masquerade! If you’re going to be at Anime Boston, go to the masquerade (obviously) and belt it out when the song comes up. The lyrics will also be onscreen on a slide projector. Sing along if you know the words!

Anime Boston debuted the music video for “Yuri The Only One” last year before anyone else saw it. We love AB! The Masquerade sing-along happened because LeetStreet Boys fans on the Anime Boston forums came out in droves and requested it. I feel so lucky that we have loyal and passionate fans who troll the Anime Boston forums. (Thanks Amy for alerting me about the forum thread.)

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, anime convention staff members listen to their audience, and respond to ideas that attendees have to offer. So if you want to see LeetStreet Boys at a convention near you, you know what to do. The system works!

Who is going to Anime Boston, and who will you be cosplaying as? (Respond in comments below.)

Fan Fridays

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Today, we’re starting a new tradition here on LeetStreetBoys.com Every Friday, we will be posting LeetStreet Boys fan video, art or music created by YOU! We will also aim to interview the video creators for the website when possible. To start things off, here is (I believe) the first ever LeetStreet Boys AMV:

Nikki, from New York was one of our first fans, and got really into our music even before we released the music video for “Yuri The Only One.” She’s been an awesome fan and done a lot to help us with promotion. At one point, she even asked if LeetStreet Boys would perform at her wedding. (She may have been the first to inquire about this, though there have been many more since.)

Nikki, if you’re reading this – great job on the AMV, thanks a lot, and let us know if there’s a wedding gig! (Do you have any friends who are single? Heehee.)

Want to have your fan video, art, or music featured on LeetStreetBoys.com? Contact us here in the comments, or send us an email with your creative work to let us know. Hope to see many more!

Fan Fridays #2

Friday, June 19th, 2009

A little while back I discovered this acoustic cover of “Yuri The Only One” that I enjoyed, and decided to feature here for this week:

The singer has a captivating voice (love the chorus vocals,) and she plays the rhythm guitar very capably. The recording obviously isn’t professionally done, but the performance is great. Nice job, Angelkillsdevils!

Eventually, I want to re-make an acoustic version of “Yuri The Only One.” Maybe with some romantic violins in the mix too. Possibly as a Valentines Day release for next year… Does that excite anybody? (respond in comments)

Moment Of Truth

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

To think it’s been over a year since we released “Yuri The Only One…” After hundreds of thousands of views, adoring fans, raging trolls, and things I never imagined, here we are. Music video #2. The sophomore single. The real test for any band. Will the fans stay loyal, or go chasing after the next thing?

The success and attention since writing “Yuri The Only One” has changed my life. At the time, I was lovestruck with the people and experiences I had from attending anime conventions. I had to put my whole heart into it in order to write it, and there’s no way someone could fake it. For anyone who is a musician reading this, having a breakout single is every bit as awesome as it’s cracked up to be. It was something I wanted for many years, and I feel like I finally reached what I was trying to accomplish.

From playing in local bands, composing with midi, and running songwriting workshops at local anime conventions as a volunteer – now I’m getting invited to perform live at anime conventions all over North America, getting fan mail, signing autographs, and most importantly, meeting people I relate to and making friends. Thanks so much to everyone who enjoyed and helped share the song. Without you, none of it would have happened.

With “Yuri The Only One” LeetStreet Boys proved that there is an audience for otaku music. So now that we did it once, we’ve gotta do it again. In the music industry, you’re as good as your last hit. The public is fickle.

Early concept art for “Guitar Hero Hero.”

It took much longer than anticipated, with all types of unpredictable drama getting in the way. But after the smoke cleared, N8 pulled through countless hours, sharing the vision of artistic success. I can honestly say that we put everything we could into “Guitar Hero Hero,” and I’m confident that nobody is going to be disappointed. If LeetStreet Boys is meant to go further, this is what’s going to take it there.

Soon we’ll see…
