Fan Fridays #3 – LeetStreet Boys on Japanese TV

Friday, June 26th, 2009

The show aired! Here’s the footage that went on NHK’s “The Netstar” over Japanese national TV:

It was a little weird being interviewed in my apartment, but I tried to go with the flow. First they wanted to film a band rehearsal in Boston, then a performance in LA, and this is what the producers decided to do. The focus of the show was on people who are ‘crazy about Japanese culture,’ so I didn’t take myself too seriously. The people from NHK were really nice, and it was surprising and flattering that so many cosplayers came out for the shoot! (Thanks everyone again.)

It’s definitely wild looking at a Japanese TV show and seeing my own face and song in it. My brother (who is currently teaching English in Japan) said it was really crazy turning on the TV and seeing his brother too.

Oh yeah, the fact that we rickrolled Japan is epic lulz! That’s gotta get written down in some sort of otaku record book…

Has anyone been to Japan? If so, what was it like?

Go Go 5 Rangers

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

This video was suggested to us from Dana for this week. This one goes out to all Power Rangers fan out there!

Dana writes: My sister’s friend introduced me to this skit. It was done by the Japanese version of SNL and it was supposed to be a once and done thing, but so many loved the skit that there ended up being like 18 of them! Each one more insane than the last. I personally love the one with the 80-year-old Pink Ranger (skit #8???). Anyway, enjoy! ^_^
