In “Life As A Commoner,” fabulously wealthy Ouran High School Host Club king Tamaki Suoh visits a commoner anime convention and makes some observations about our impoverished, unsophisticated lifestyle. A fun cosplay video skit to be enjoyed by fans of Ouran High School Host Club, Death Note and anime convention attendees… “Do you know how much that is in Rich People money??”
Christine, Tara and Meph are friends of ours from the Boston MA cosplay meetup group. This video was shot at ConnectiCon 2008.
Naka-Kon 2009, in Kansas City Missouri was a fantastic weekend. We flew in Thursday night, and went out to eat at the revolving restaurant on the top floor of the hotel, accompanied by some other convention guests. Had some fun and, um interesting conversations… What happens at the con stays at the con. Anyway, being up on the 39th floor was quite epic. Check out these aerial views of Kansas City:
Sweet view. Our concert was Friday evening. I could not believe it, but we had a huge crowd. I’ve played shows at conventions in the past where I thought the room was gonna be packed and ended up being empty, and this made up for all of those! I thoroughly had a great time rocking out onstage, and the audience was great. Wow, if only all gigs could be this good! Here are some performance shots:
The other thing that made Naka-Kon really special for me was finally getting to meet Nate (our music video animator) in person. Seriously, we had been working together for over a year and this was the first time we met in real life. I got to go on a tour of Kansas City and check out his awesome living space (where a party was going on.)
On Saturday, Nate and I did a panel on the making of ‘Yuri The Only One’ again to a surprisingly large crowd. I learned for the first time ever that the music video contains subliminal messages! It was unbelievable. Again, I want to keep some thing a secret (so that people can learn the truth at conventions we attend.) I will say that if you slow down to individual frames when the meteor hits, it says something special.
Matt and Nate, together at long last!
Props: Shota, Jon and Akash for great performances. Tyler for booking us and taking amazing care of us. Lear for being an incredible sound guy. Sierra for helping us out with whatever we needed. Pinky for being a rock star. Samanth for the live photographs. Everyone else we met for making us feel like rockstars. Anyone I forgot. Naka-Kon. Was. AWESOME!!!!
I’ll be spending my Halloween weekend at BakuretsuCon this year. This is fun little anime convention in scenic Vermont, and is the first convention ever that was crazy enough to have me as a music guest. I’m looking forward to seeing my friends on the staff, my steampunk pals The Penny Dreadfuls, and Scott Meltzer (of “This Is Otakudom”) fame. I’m also excited about meeting Svetlana Chmakova, author of the Dramacon manga, of which I’m a big fan.
This year I’m volunteering on the staff, and participating on panels entitled “Anime Fandom for Fun and Profit,” “Con Horror Stories” and “Video Game Industry 101.” Check out the masquerade skit I’m doing with Jason, aka “Meowth.” I’ll also have LeetStreet Boys albums for sale if anybody wants to pick one up. Can’t wait to see everybody from Vermont!
Still looking for something to do on New Years Eve? How about going to an anime convention? While we will not be present at any of these conventions this year, we do want to extend some shout-outs to conventions cool enough to ring in the new year:
Winter Comiket – Inspiring our recent new track. MAGfest – Featuring tons of video game cover bands. IkkiCon – New Years Eve convention in Texas.
There are also numerous mini convention and non-convention events (anime screenings, etc.) taking place on or around December 31st. For more information, take a look on animecons.com or on the website for the convention near you.
We’re excited and proud to announce our first live appearance for 2010, at Tekkoshocon!
David L. Lawrence Convention Center
Pittsburgh, PA
April 8-11 2010
From their website: You asked on our forums, and Santa delivered! The LeetStreet Boys will be appearing in concert at Tekkoshocon VIII.
Thanks so much to the LeetStreet Team and our Pittsburgh area fans for helping us get this show. You are the best, and without you it would not be possible.
I will be at Queen City Kamakaze next weekend, doing a musical performance, a music panel and selling albums. See you there!
Want LeetStreet Boys to perform at a convention near you? Here’s how to do it. We’re hoping to do some awesome touring this coming summer!
Here is their first episode from Katsucon! Despite the rumors, it was true that we almost got kicked of the convention property by the hotel because of our camera equipment. Sounds like quite an adventure!
We are going to announce a new upcoming show on Thursday!
