Chinese Anime Industry Grows Amid Japan Slump
Article from the New York Times on the growth of animation in China. Many Japanese shows have outsourced production to China in the past, and now they are are starting to develop more original content.
How do LeetStreet Boys fans feel about anime created outside of Japan… Is anime anime regardless of who made it? Or not authentic if not Japanese? If not, then what is it?

if it’s only anime from japan the it’s only pizza if you go to Italy.

I think ANIME is only from Japan. But new animated shows from China is great!
The only outside-of-Japan anime I think I’ve seen are Japanese-French made ones like Code Lyoko and Oban Star-Racers, both of which I love. But they also have Japanese influence, so I’m not sure they count.
Either way, I think it’s fine that China is making anime. They’re good at copying anyway! (that wasn’t meant to be offensive, sorry if it was ._.)
Last Airbender is Korean…..I personally say anime is from Japan but since it is short for animation I’m not sure….same thing goes for manga and mangaka.
I like the analogy Kyle made about anime and pizza. A cartoon show anime-style and not from Japan can be great, just like Pizza Hut is great, but neither are authentic.

koreans can make awesome manga, so the the chinese should be able to make awesome anime
i think anime produced out of japan is still anime and it proves that anime fandom is spreading! like in “dramacon”, just because it’s not japanese, it doesn’t mean it’s not manga or anime.
