I started to cry from your Yuri The Only One song. Its not because of laughter, but because it reminded me of my ex. Its a fricking wonderful song though! Very funny! You have my respect and props for really going out there.
You made a fan out of me.
You should go to MetroCon in Tampa, Florida

Awesome! Comic’s back! Sweeeeeeet.
Anyway, Avatar is overrated. Sure, it’s a masterpiece of modern day technological development and yes, the action scenes were intense and breathtaking and sure, the environments were beautifully designed and amazing well thought-out, but…
Wait, what was I complaining about?
O yea, the main character is a retard, his girlfriend is a whiny loser, and if the bad guy wasn’t such a perfect representation of American conservative idiocy then I’d be rooting him on.

With the way the economy is, going out to see a movie is just not in the budget. So 9, Avatar, and all those other OMGMUSTSEEMYEYESBLEED movies are going to have to wait until they come out on Pay-Per-View or free on the tube. *pout*

I saw Avatar last week and LOVED it! The special effects are absolutely brilliant, and the action sequences are brilliant. Yeah, the plot is kind of overused, but then so is the ‘Romeo and Juliet’ kinda plot and EVERYONE loves those. Plus, I almost forgot I was in a cinema. Therefore it is good.

Saw Avatar
While I was impressed by the CGI, it seemed to me to be a retelling of Pocahontas….in space
Think about it.
Ship arrives carrying settlers to the “new world”
Settlers are mining for gold..erm unobtanium
Male Hero (MH) starts exploring the new world and meets Female Hero (FH) who is initially distrustful of him but a message from a spiritual elder removes this distrust
FH teaches MH that all life is precious, about nature, and about the traditions and customs of her people.
FH turns out to be the daughter of the chief and is soon to be married to a great warrior who she does not love
Over the course of the movie, MH and FH fall in love
The settlers believe that the natives are savages and plan to attack them to get the unobtanium
Before the attack, MH is sentenced by the natives and is to be killed.
Settlers attack
FH father is almost killed but is saved by MH who takes injuries from his leader.
MH’s leader is then killed
FH risks life to save MH
MH and FH are together
Settlers and Natives resolve their differences.
Credits roll

I loved the movie. I especially love how the Navi won
. The language they spoke, if i’m not mistaken, is a combination of Cherokee and i think Apache or something like that…a linguistics professor created it using Native American languages that he knew as inspiration…I felt like it was a real language though, which was awesome

Nice Art.^^

Avatar was the best remake of “Dances With Wolves” ever.
That said, that only good thing about it was the visuals.

I think even though it was a predictable plot, they did it pirfectly and the visuals were amazing. To all the people saying its just pocahontas in space, think about that for a second. It Pocahontas IN SPACE! Thats just awesome.

Responding to Yenni, an article I read stated that the linguist did not set out with any specific language as a base, and people have been reminded of everything from German to Tamil. However, you might have something with the Native American languages.
One of the few things that disappointed me about Avatar was how little they really used Na’Vi. You’d think that if you went to the trouble of creating a whole new language, you’d actually have the natives speak it. As the movie progressed, it seemed to be used less and less, even as the protagonist supposedly became more proficient in it.

I read the Avatar screenplay, Sony offered it as a .pdf file, for free……OMFGIWANNASEEITSOFEAKINGBAD! *ahem* Yeah, I love the writing, and I don’t really care if it’s a recycled Pocahontas story….it’s beautiful…

@Tangleflower I watched a interview with him on some tv program, i can’t remember which, that said he was a native American linguist specialist, and the languages he pulled from were amongst those he knew the best. But that’s just if i’m reading into what he said correctly ^.^;
