Bleach Marriage Proposal
Hey — Matt here. Unfortunately I’m not feeling so hot health-wise this week, which is why I’ve been slow to update. I’m hoping I’ll still be good to go for PortCon.
So anyway, Anime Boston was as epic and amazing as always. Some of the highlights for me personally this year were hanging out with friends at ballroom dance and rave dance, participating in the Goldeneye N64 tournament, meeting fans and signing autographs. But the most exciting part of the con was seeing my friend Joe propose to his girlfriend Sarah during the masquerade, in front of 5,000 people:
Joe, Sarah, and some more friends recorded the audio for this skit at my studio earlier this year. What Sarah didn’t know is that Joe secretly came back and changed the original ending of the skit to include the marriage proposal. The skit involves excerpts from the Japanese Bleach musical, and Joe ultimately breaks the fourth wall (as indicated by taking off his wig.)
Joe and Sarah, if you’re reading this I’m very happy for both of you, and I want to say another huge congratulations. I was biting my nails when I knew it was about to happen! I’m glad I was able to be a part of it by helping record the audio for the piece. I wish you the best from here to come!
Has anyone else besides me seen a marriage proposal take place at an anime convention? Respond in comments below.

Did the wedding at AAC already happen? I thought that was gonna be this year. I’m confused…
I feel like I DID see one at Otakon a few years back at the Masquerade. Not entirely positive, though.
Two of the staff members got married during Opening Ceremonies last year.

At Fan Expo (Comics, Sci-Fi, Anime, Horror, and Video Games convention) in Toronto a few years back I saw a Joker propose to a Harley Quinn. I think I saw another one, but I can’t remember it.

I saw two last year during the masquerade last year at CTCON. They were amazing and so adorable!
I was at Anime Boston and saw this one, the sister of Joe was sitting right beside us. She screamed soooo loud when it happened! I was a lot of fun.
Congratulations, Joe. Definitely an original way to propose. She seemed eager to accept.

Yep, I’ve known Joe and he told me this was coming as well. Though dang nobody at AB caught my engagement thing at the Closing Ceremony on camera.

ive seen one on stage like that before it was like three years back and they were dressed up as vampire night yuki and zero i dont know if u might have seen that but it was almost as good as this but i have to say i thought urs was the best ever lols
